The ZenNotify offline guarantee
This application does not request the INTERNET permission. Your notification history, custom rules and sensitivity settings never leave your device. We collect no analytics and have no access to your data.
Core principles
ZenNotify was built on the principle of extreme privacy. We believe that your focus is your most valuable asset, and that managing it shouldn't come at the cost of your personal data.
Data we access & collect
To provide its core functionality, ZenNotify accesses and processes the following data entirely on your device. None of it is transmitted, uploaded or shared with any server, third party or external service.
| Data type | What we access | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Notification content | App name, notification title, text and category of incoming notifications | To evaluate your rules and decide whether to filter, batch, mute or allow each notification |
| Location | Approximate and precise location, read only while the app is open | Used only for location-radius rules — to activate or deactivate rules inside an area you choose. ZenNotify does not request background location access and cannot read your location while the app is closed or not in use. We do not store a history of your location. |
| Activity recognition (health data) |
Physical activity state (e.g. walking, driving, biking, still) | To detect when you are driving or biking for automated safety silencers. Google classifies this as health data. Processed entirely on-device via Android's Activity Recognition API and never stored or transmitted. |
| Usage statistics | Currently active / foreground app package name | To identify which app is in use so context-aware filters can be applied |
| Bluetooth device names | Names of paired / connected Bluetooth devices | For proximity-based rules, e.g. silence notifications when connected to car Bluetooth |
| Wi-Fi network names | SSID of the currently connected Wi-Fi network | For rules that trigger based on which network you are connected to |
On location: ZenNotify collects location only while you have the app open, and only to check it against the rules you created. It is compared against your rules on the device and then discarded — never stored as a history, never uploaded, never sold and never shared.
Health data disclosure
ZenNotify accesses Activity Recognition data, which Google classifies as health data. Specifically, the app uses Android's Activity Recognition API to detect your current physical activity (driving, biking, walking or still). This data is:
- Processed entirely on your device — never transmitted to any server
- Used only to automatically activate safety silencer rules when you are driving or biking
- Never stored — the activity state is evaluated in real time and immediately discarded after the rule check
- Never shared with any third party, analytics service or advertising network
Permissions & usage
To provide its core functionality, ZenNotify requires specific permissions. Here is exactly why we use them:
- Notification access: essential for intercepting and filtering incoming alerts according to your rules. This permission is managed strictly by the Android system and is never processed off-device.
- Location access: used only for location-radius and Wi-Fi-based filters, so rules can activate inside an area you choose. Read only while the app is open. ZenNotify does not request background location access. We do not store a history of your location.
- Foreground service: required to keep the notification filtering engine running consistently so rules can be applied as alerts arrive.
- Activity recognition: used to detect when you are driving or biking for automated safety silencers. Classified as health data and processed entirely on-device.
- Usage stats: used to identify the currently active app for context-aware smart filters.
- Bluetooth: used to detect connected Bluetooth devices for proximity-based rules.
- Wi-Fi / nearby devices: used to detect connected Wi-Fi networks for network-based rules.
- Post notifications: required to show batched notification summaries and status alerts.
- Camera: used only to control the flashlight for alert actions. No photos or videos are captured or stored.
Every permission above is optional except notification access. Declining one only turns off the rules that depend on it, and you can review or revoke any of them at any time from Settings → Permissions & access inside the app, or from your device's system settings.
Data security
Any settings or rule metadata stored by the app is kept in an encrypted local database. Since there is no internet access, there is no remote server that can be breached to access your information.
Data retention & deletion
ZenNotify stores all data exclusively on your device. Here is how long data is retained and how you can delete it:
| Data | Retention period | How to delete |
|---|---|---|
| Notification history (Vault) |
User-configurable: 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, or until manually cleared. Default is forever (until cleared). | Settings → Vault Auto-Cleanup to set automatic deletion, or Settings → Delete My Data to clear everything immediately. |
| Rules & settings | Stored until you delete them or clear app data | Delete individual rules from the Rules screen, or use Settings → Delete My Data. |
| Activity recognition | Not stored — evaluated in real time only | No deletion needed; never persisted. |
| Location | Not stored — used for real-time rule checks only | No deletion needed; never persisted. |
| Dashboard statistics | Stored until you clear app data | Settings → Delete My Data. |
How to delete your data
You can delete all your data at any time using one of these methods:
- In-app: open the app → Settings → tap "Delete My Data". This permanently erases all notification history, rules, settings and preferences from your device.
- Android system: Settings → Apps → ZenNotify → Storage → Clear Data.
- Uninstall: uninstalling ZenNotify automatically removes all stored data from your device.
Since ZenNotify is 100% offline and stores no data on any server, deleting the app or clearing app data guarantees complete and permanent removal of all your information. Full step-by-step instructions are on the Delete Your Data page.
Data deletion is permanent. Once deleted, your notification history, rules and settings cannot be recovered.
Data deletion requests

Third-party services
There are no third-party SDKs, tracking pixels or advertisement networks integrated into ZenNotify. The app is 100% ad-free. The only third-party integration is Google Play Billing, used solely for processing premium purchases through the Google Play Store.
Children's privacy
ZenNotify does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The app does not target children and does not collect age-related information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as we add new features. However, our commitment to keeping ZenNotify offline and private will never change. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
